The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) has selected Twenty-Two Boxers to form the Senior Amateur Boxing Team, ‘The Black Bombers’ for local preparations ahead of the October 2010 India Commonwealth Games and other major international championships as well as training tours of the Federation.

The selection which was exclusively based on merit was done by the GABF Technical Committee after three days (3) of Round – Robbin competition dubbed “National Amateur Boxing Justify – Your – Inclusion”, sponsored to the tune of Four Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢4,000) by Mr. Dave Harper, the Managing Director of GEODRIL MINING COMPANY.

The following boxers make up the 22-man squad:

Out of the twenty – two, only ten outstanding boxers in the 10 New Weight Categories (49Kg, 52Kg, 56Kg, 60Kg, 64Kg, 69Kg, 75Kg, 81Kg, 91Kg and +91Kg) would eventually make it to the Federation’s proposed International training tour, the Commonwealth Games and all other 2010 major championships.

The GABF therefore request for support, both in cash and in kind from public spirited individuals and organizations to ensure a successful preparation of the Black Bombers towards the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The team has since begun non – residential training at the D.G Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, in Osu, Accra.
