FACTS - Ghana made its first appearance at the 1974 World Hockey Cup held in Malaysia.
- Ghana played at the Youth Hockey World Tournament held in France in 1979 or 80.
- Hosted the 2002 Africa Hockey Club Championship
- Embarked on Youth development programme with emphasis on school programmes.
- Presented hockey sticks to 15 second cycle schools selected from all the regions in 2004
- Presented sticks and balls to 20 second cycle schools in 2005
- Presented goal keepers kickers to all 10 regions to support schools hockey.
Note: Funding for the equipment were grants from the FIH under the Development Grant programme. - All the regions participated in Hockey at the Regional School Sports Festival held in Koforidua recently. Maximum support from the GHA.
Recent DevelopmentB - Champion clubs regularly participate at the Africa Club Championship for the past six years.
- The national teams (men and women) participated in the recent Olympic qualifier held in Nairobi - Kenya. Men 4th and female 3rd.
- The strategic plan programme should therefore be considered as a timely action that will facilitate the rapid development of the game to enable Ghana assume the top position on the continent.
